My Diaper Washing Routine

I know there is a lot of info out there on how to wash cloth diapers. My husband still has to ask me and we have been cloth diapering for over a year! I made printouts to tape to the cabinet above my washing machine and I thought I would share it here. 🙂

Diaper Washing Instructions

  1. Make sure all messy diapers are sprayed out.

  2. Pull out all inserts from pockets and pull out center inserts of Swaddlebees.

  3. Pre-Rinse:

    • Detergent: None

    • Cycle: Quick Wash

    • Water Temp: Warm

    • Spin: High

    • Soil Level: Heavy

    • Extra Rinse

  4. Wash

    • Detergent: One (1) full tablespoon (big scoop) in detergent drawer

    • Cycle: Normal (NOT Heavy Duty)

    • Water Temp: Hot

    • Spin: High

    • Soil Level: Heavy

    • Extra Rinse

  5. Dry: All diapers can go in the dryer on LOW or line dry.

Stripping Diapers

With Funk Rock: Add four (4) tablespoons in detergent drawer to Pre-Rinse. Once washer fills up and starts agitating, pause and let diapers soak for 30-60 minutes. Allow pre-rinse to finish and wash as normal.

With GroVia Mighty Bubbles: Follow wash routine as normal, substituting one (1) Mighty Bubbles packet for detergent.

If you would like, here is a printable version of the above info. 🙂

Note: These instructions are based on a HE machine without an agitator.
